Jadau Jewellery
in Jodhpur
Traditional Rajasthani goldwork with polki diamonds and meenakari enamel — handcrafted by master karigars.
The Ancient Art of Jadau
Jadau is the traditional Rajasthani technique of embedding gemstones directly into gold using lac (a natural resin) — without any chemical adhesive or mechanical prongs. The craft was brought to Rajasthan by Mughal artisans and has been perfected by Jodhpur and Jaipur karigars over centuries. It remains one of the most labour-intensive and revered forms of Indian jewellery making.
The jadau process begins with shaping molten gold into the desired form. While the gold is still warm, the karigar carefully presses uncut polki diamonds and coloured gemstones into the surface, securing them with lac. The reverse side is then finished with meenakari — vibrant enamel work in red, green, blue, and white — making every jadau piece a work of art on both sides.
At Shrivatsa, we work with Jodhpur's finest jadau artisans to create necklace sets, bangles, earrings, and headpieces that honour this centuries-old tradition while meeting the quality expectations of today's discerning bride. Every piece is crafted in BIS hallmarked gold with genuine polki diamonds.

Meenakari — The Hidden Art
What makes jadau jewellery truly special is that it is beautiful on both sides. The front displays the brilliance of polki diamonds and coloured stones, while the back reveals meenakari — intricate enamel work painted by specialist artisans using fine brushes and natural mineral pigments.
Meenakari colours carry meaning in Indian tradition: red symbolises love, green represents fertility, blue signifies the divine, and white stands for purity. A skilled meenakari artist can paint dozens of colours onto a single piece, creating floral motifs, peacocks, and geometric patterns that are fired at precise temperatures to achieve lasting brilliance.
